Young Leaders of Tomorrow

The purpose of Young Leaders of Tomorrow (YLOT) is to create and develop opportunities for elementary students in fourth and fifth grade that will represent their schools in a building leader role. The service learning and goal setting will promote college and career readiness, social skills development and character education that aligns with Diploma Plus.  The YLOT application is open to all fourth and fifth graders.  YLOT is an additional experience a select number of fourth and fifth grade students can earn that promotes the district’s vision of college and career readiness.  All fourth and fifth grade students are afforded an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of leadership and the qualities that leadership embodies.  Through a simple writing assignment, these students will be evaluated on their ability to articulate leadership qualities and their responses will be the determining factor as to if they are selected for the YLOT cohort.  Upon selection, members will identify, access and utilize community resources, and complete their service learning project culminating in a PowerPoint presentation to report their results.
